At the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2026 held in Yerevan, Armenia, eight thousand international samples were analyzed. Among the sparkling and white wines, Sicily won the highest possible recognition, the prestigious Grand Gold Medal, awarded only to a very select elite of wines that border on perfection with an average score of at least 94/100
Leading this triumphant expedition are three labels capable of redefining the perception of the island’s sparkling and white wines: the Metodo Classico sparkling wine from Feudo Disisa (even named Best New Wine), the iconic Kikè from Cantine Fina, and the elegant Bianco di San Lorenzo from Cantine De Gregorio.
The king of sparkling wines: “René” Metodo Classico 60 months – Feudo Disisa (Revelation Wine)
The Metodo Classico 60 months on the lees of Feudo Disisa “René” was crowned in the sparkling wine section as the Revelation Wine for Italy. A great achievement that rewards the foresight and production rigor of the Grisì winery (Monreale). Five years of aging on the lees create a very fine perlage and a complex sensory profile, balanced between a sharp freshness and a suitable evolving depth.
Aromatic intensity: Kikè 2025 – Cantine Fina
On the hills of Marsala, the blend of Kikè from Cantine Fina combines the territorial aroma of Traminer Aromatico with a touch of Sauvignon Blanc. It manages to combine a vibrant freshness and a marine flavor typical of the Trapani terroir, rich in exotic rue and orange blossom, demonstrating how Sicily knows how to enhance Central European grape varieties under the Mediterranean sun.
Tailored elegance: the Bianco di San Lorenzo 2025 Cantine De Gregorio
The Bianco di San Lorenzo from Cantine De Gregorio (Sciacca), another extraordinary Gran Medaglia d’Oro that embodies the essence of the avant-garde viticulture of the Agrigento coast. From the union of Inzolia and Incrocio Manzoni, it ranges from peach to pineapple and apricot, with a crisp acidity and a deep minerality that recalls the proximity of the sea. A label that perfectly reflects the unique microclimate of Sciacca, where the land is in constant dialogue with the sea breezes.
